چکیده

In this paper we present a case study on assessing project management maturity in organizations. The purpose is to develop an understanding of what project maturity is and to investigate process definition and practice maturity level in nine knowledge areas based on PMBOK standard and suggesting initiatives to improve maturity level. Maturity itself is measured along two dimensions. They are Process definition (Maturity level of the process) and Process Practice (Maturity level of the practice of the process). The different dimensions of maturity are further divided into nine subconcepts, which are nine knowledge areas in PMBOK, and should provide a good understanding of the project maturity of an organization. Wysocki questionnaire, which is developed, based on the understanding of project maturity, and an initial survey has been conducted. The survey gives some support, and shows differences between these two dimensions. Further work on the questionnaire and surveys are proposed.
